Dry Dock Ship Superintendent

Mare Island Dry Dock, LLC is seeking a talented MARITIME - Shipyard/Dry Dock Ship Superintendents to join our team!

MARITIME  EXPERIENCED SHIP SUPERINTENDENTS -  Supervise and coordinate activities of crew engaged in the repair and maintenance of engines, boilers, deck machinery, and electrical, sanitary, and refrigeration equipment aboard ship

The Ship Superintendent is delegated authority to accomplish the responsibilities, duties, goals and objectives related to getting a job done on time and within budget. provide management and direction to all key people reporting directly to this position.  Prepare all supporting documentation for the set up and execution of the Job. The Ship Superintendent is responsible for seeing the job is completed on time and on budget and according to client specifications..

Essential Functions
Manage the maintenance or repair of engines, shafts, propellers, valves, electric motors, pumps, winches, or other mechanical or electrical equipment to the specifications required and to the schedule.

Perform general marine vessel maintenance or repair work, such as repairing leaks, repairing or replacing steel, painting, pipe, HVAC and other projects.

Ensure Crane and rigging services are available to move goods on and off the ship.

Repair or maintain electrical power, heating, ventilation, refrigeration, water, or sewerage systems.

Coordinate and ensure subcontractors complete work on-time and within budget

Reporting Relationship
Ship Superintendent is hired by and reports to the company Program Manager.
The following positions report to the Ship Superintendent
  •             Ship Assigned Foreman and Leadmen
  •             Subcontractors

Minimum Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in ship contract repair management.
  • Preferred: 4 year Degree in Management or related field within the maritime industry
    Complex problem solving skills to identify and prioritize problem areas and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.  Microsoft Office program computer skills are required.
  • Experience with multi-function copy/scanner machines (ie: Toshiba, Konica-Minolta)
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (2013+), Office 365 Support
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Working Conditions
Normal working hours from 7am-3:30pm but may be required to answer customer service calls during evening, weekend, and holiday hours. Work sometimes takes place in wiring closets (small confined spaces), shipboard operations room (noisy environment), climbing ladder wells aboard ship and carrying equipment on and off vessels.
