Shipyard Superintendent for Mare Island Dry Dock, LLC
Mare Island Dry Dock (MIDD) is a shipyard located North of San Francisco in Vallejo, Ca. The majority of MIDDs work is contracted with Military Sealift Command, US Coast Guard as well as many civilian operated government vessels.

Overview/Summary
The Shipyard Superintendent is a senior leadership position and reports directly to VP of Operations. The Shipyard Superintendent manages the daily operation of the Shipyard and supervises the fabrication, erection, outfitting, and delivery of vessels. The Shipyard Superintendent is directly responsible for manpower and quality assurance.

The Superintendent works with the companies and marine engineers, purchasing manager, and all trades to ensure that all phases of construction comply with design specifications, budget, customer standards, federal/state regulations, and safety requirements. In addition, the Shipyard Superintendent will supervise subcontractors and coordinate the repair schedule with the shipyard Vice President to provide on time and on budget delivery of projects.

Responsibilities
Supervises trade foreman and sub-contractors
Assigns work, provides technical expertise, and on the job guidance
Understands repair principles and reading specifications, plans/drawings
Ensures repair trades follow specifications and work as contracted
Ensures that workers are safe
Creates sense of urgency while demanding the best from employees
Manages labor and manpower hours. Establishes daily, weekly, monthly goals
Drives project timeline for on time delivery of vessel
Direct supervision of the mechanical trades and subcontractors on vessels and in the shipyard for:
Material fabrication, welding and ship fitting
Propulsion and auxiliary systems
Navigational equipment
Blast and paint systems
Piping systems
Electrical and generator systems
Marine technology and information systems
HVAC systems
Joiner and marine interior systems
Galley equipment and systems
Fit, finish, and trim work
Identifies and corrects problems
Ensures compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations related to certificated vessel repair
Participates in USCG inspections and meetings
Ensures quality repairs
Provides consistent feedback to Trades Foremen
Identifies and corrects the root cause of production and technical issues
Develop, implement, and supervise quality, health, safety, and environmental compliance. Directly supervise the Safety Program
Directs the cleanliness and orderliness during all phases of construction
Ensures compliance with regulations set forth by applicable regulatory bodies including the US Coast Guard, Food and Drug Administration, US Public Health, and other regulatory organizations
Develops and implements a training programs for new hires and career paths for promotions

Qualifications
Minimum 5 years’ experience in ship repair management
B.S. in Management is preferred
Strong organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
